I am passionate about integrating ecological restoration into my landscape architecture practice to increase the biodoiversity and resilience of our ecosystems while creating spaces where people can connect with nature.

Biography

Katelyn Dunning is a senior landscape architect at O2’s Calgary office, where she combines her passion for ecological restoration with her expertise in landscape architecture. As a registered Landscape Architect and a Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner (CERP) Katelyn brings over 15 years of experience to the team. Her dedication to her work and her ability to fully integrate landscape architecture with ecological restoration make her a valuable member of the O2 team.

Katelyn holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Guelph and a Masters of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo in ecological restoration. Her academic background and professional affiliations with the Alberta Association of Landscape Architects (AALA), the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA), and the Society of Ecological Restoration (SER) underscore her commitment to her expertise.

Katelyn’s work focuses on the restoration of degraded ecosystems, allowing visitors to connect with the environment. She has extensive experience in the development of natural urban ecosystems, including integrated stormwater management, natural park design, river and floodplain restoration, and park design, as well as terrestrial and wetland restoration. Her commitment to integrating people into healthy ecosystems is recognized through her involvement in award-winning projects, such as Dale Hodges Natural Environment Park and Harvie Passage Flood Damage Restoration. Katelyn’s experience includes large-scale planning, design, restoration plans, contract development, and construction administration on projects ranging in scale and complexity.
