DESIGN MATTERS: LECTURE SERIES 2016-2017

The eighth and final installment of the 2016-2017 Design Matters Lecture Series presents Vishaan Chakrabarti, founder of Practice for Architecture and Urbanism (PAU) and Associate Professor of Practice at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation.

Today, we are faced with daunting new challenges: looming climate change, stalled social mobility, geometric technological advancement, grossly substandard infrastructure, fraying cultural and racial fabric, and a fragile sense of the public commons.

This lecture will explore the city as a the space where we will confront and hopefully reconcile these challenges, finding inspiration from the enduring words of Mies van der Rohe, who implored that architecture be of its epoch.

Join us on Wednesday, April 12 at 6:00 p.m. at the University of Calgary Downtown Campus (906 8 Ave. SW).

Limited seating - RSVP is strongly recommended.
