Walk21 Calgary: Call for Contributions

From September 19–22, 2017, Walk21 Calgary will examine how walking fosters healthy and vibrant communities, and can encourage cities to become more resilient and sustainable in the wake of rapid urban growth.

We welcome citizens, academics, urban planners, health care professionals, and community leaders to submit proposals for the conference program. Help us shape these vital conversations where we will discuss, debate, and design our urban walkable futures.

  • Friday January 6, 2017: Abstract submissions open
  • Friday February 10, 2017: Abstract submission deadline (extended to February 24)
  • Friday March 31, 2017: Notification of acceptance (extended to April 1)

Registration will open in Spring 2017.

The Walk21 Calgary conference program will feature keynote and plenary sessions, symposia, breakout presentations and walkshops in downtown and suburban Calgary. Delegates will experience Calgary’s emerging walkability, and be exposed to new ideas about how walking can connect people and communities. We will reflect on the lessons of the past, create new knowledge and examine social dynamics to build momentum for the new walking city.
