Opportunity Description:
Sealed Tenders, clearly marked as to content, will be received by Engineering & Development, Wetaskiwin
City Hall, 4705 – 50 Ave, Wetaskiwin, Alberta, T9A 0R8 up to 2:00:00 pm hours local time on Thursday,
July 12, 2018, for the “37 Avenue Rehabilitation, City of Wetaskiwin”. The time will be conclusively
determined using the National Research Council of Canada Webclock at
http://time5.nrc.ca/webclock_e.shtml.
All tenders will be EVALUATED, see section 00 21 13 for instructions. The final results will not be
released until a contract has been awarded by the City.
The Work to be undertaken is generally described as 37 Avenue Rehabilitation in the City of Wetaskiwin
and includes the following scope of work:
• Remove & Dispose Full-Depth Asphalt 1,925 m2
• Excavation (Common, Borrow or Unsuitable Materials) 1,660 m3
• Prepared Subgrade (300mm depth) 2,185 m2
• Supply and Install Granular Base Course (Des 3, Class 20) 1,690 t
• Supply and Install Hot Mix Asphalt Concrete Pavement – ACO 650 t
• Supply & Install various Concrete Curbs & Gutters 280 lm
• Water Distribution System including removal and upgrade of 116 lineal metres of existing
water main to PVC and associated leads, gate valves, tees, service connections and
temporary water services.
• Potential Watermain Pipe Lining (Provisional) in lieu of Removal & Replacement.
• Miscellaneous landscape works including topsoil placement and sod remediation.
Starting 2:00 pm hours local time, Friday, June 29, 2018, Tender Documents and Drawings may be
obtained from City Hall, 4705 – 50 Ave, Wetaskiwin, Alberta, T9A 0R8, between the hours of 8:30 am and
4:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Contact information mus t be provided at the time of pickup to be registered
for distribution of addenda. Only bids submitted on the documents obtained from the City will be accepted.
A non-refundable cheque payable to “City of Wetaskiwin” in the amount of $25.00 will be required for
each set of documents.
Vendors are completely responsible for ensuring that their bids reach the correct final location prior to the
bid submission deadline and APC notifications of addenda, if posted. Fax, email and other non hard copy
forms of bids or amendments WILL NOT be accepted.
A bid bond or certified cheque for the amount of ten percent (10%) of the Tender Price is to accompany
each Tender. Submission of a Tender by the Bidder gives the City the right to require the Bidder to execute
the Contract and to perform the Work as set out within the Tender Documents. Tenders may not be
withdrawn at or after the Tender submittal deadline and will be irrevocable and open for acceptance by the
City for a period of sixty (60) days following the Tender submittal deadline.
The City reserves the right, without prejudice, to reject any Tender from a Vendor currently in litigation
with the City.
The bidder acknowledges and will be willing to accept the role of Prime Contractor pursuant to the
occupational health and safety act requirements and by submission of a bid acknowledges that it has the
capability of fulfilling this requirement.
The deadline for contractor questions will be received up to 4:30:00pm hours local time, Monday, July
9, 2018. Any questions received after this time will remain unanswered.
This project is subject to City Council approval and as such may be cancelled if not approved.
