AALA Executive Director

It is with excitement and a bit of sadness that I announce the appointment of our new Executive Director, Todd Reade. This of course means that as of May 15th, 2017, the Alberta Association of Landscape Architects will no longer be requiring services from ManageWise, Inc.

The AALA would like to acknowledge and thank ManageWise for years of service to our association. In consideration of our strategic plan, and long term goals, the association has decided to make a transition toward elevating the management of our association to a full time endeavor.

Further to the above, the AALA has invested substantial time and resources in developing the terms of reference for an executive director. The association has applied these terms toward a candidate search, in addition to speaking with and soliciting a proposal from ManageWise to provide these services.

After weighing our options and considering the pros and cons towards this change, the association believes it is in our best interest to appoint an individual to this position. We anticipate the transition from ManageWise to our newly appointed independent contractor will be a positive experience.

The Executive Director will serve as the face of the organization, building interpersonal relationships, and providing a face for leadership, as well as managing day to day operations, administrative tasks, and program evaluation.

The AALA extends its most sincere thanks to the team at ManageWise who has done so much for us over the past 15 years. In particular, we would like to acknowledge the efforts of Shauna Prokopchuk who has been instrumental in providing assistance to our organization, with particular reference regarding our transition toward a regulated body under POARA. Their work is recognized and appreciated.

There will be a 3 month transition period effective February 15, 2017 in order to ensure transfer of assets and prepare for this important change for our association. At this time, Todd Reade will become the Executive Director for the AALA.

Todd has been actively involved in the Recreation & Parks Sector for more than 20 years, including working for the Alberta Recreation & Parks Association (ARPA) for 7 years. He holds a BA (Recreation and Leisure Studies) and an Masters of Business Administration (MBA).  Todd has an extensive and diverse leadership and volunteer background in the sector and currently is a Branch Trainer for the Lifesaving Society and sits on the Professional Development Committee for ARPA. Todd comes to us from 5-years at Deaf & Hear Alberta where he is Director of Operations and has been working with those that are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.  For more information about Todd you can check out www.toddreade.comTodd can be reached by email at executivedirector@aala.ab.ca.
