AALA Board of Directors nominations and other volunteer opportunities for 2023


 

Important AALA Update


Annual General Meeting:
The AGM will be held on Saturday April 29, 2023 in Red Deer. A virtual option will be available. More details to follow.

Call for Director nominations:
Submit for the 2023 to 2025 Board of Directors nominations by noon MST Wednesday February 22, 2023 to fill one (1) Registered Member position.

The nomination should include:
  • Notice of interest in the Board of Directors Registered Member position.
  • Names of at least two (2) Nominators nominating your qualification.

Please send your notice of interest to aala@aala.ab.ca.
Should an election be needed, it will begin on Wednesday March 01, 2023.

Time commitment: The Board meets monthly for the duration of one hour. The level of effort and preparation depends on the Director role, varying from (2) to (8) hours.

Barbara Power (Public Member).
Brian Nolan (Past-President) ex officio.

Vacancies:
Mike Light – retired December 2022.

While the above represents the current slate of continuing Directors, we encourage and appreciate new Director nominations. Some Board Members may step down should the number of candidates exceed the vacancies. Best practice in organization governance is staggered terms and a mix of continuing Directors and new directors to provide continuity and refresh.
 

Registration Committee nominations:
The Registration Committee reviews and approves all applications, please see the AALA Website for additional information at this link


. Volunteers are needed for the Registration Committee. Please send your notice of interest and resume to aala@aala.ab.ca by noon MST Wednesday February 22, 2023.

Time commitment: The Registration Committee meets every three months for the duration of two hours. The level of effort and preparation for these quarterly meetings depends on membership applications, commonly one hour. As registration requests come in throughout the year, it is anticipated that applications will be reviewed on a weekly basis. Weekly requirements generally being 15-30 minutes.


2023 Edmonton Urban Design Awards nominations:
AALA is seeking one (1) volunteer to sit on the Edmonton Urban Design Awards Advisory Committee. For additional information, please refer attached Advisory Committee Terms of Reference.
