Duties and Responsibilities

Estimation & Sales Leadership

  • Lead estimating residential and commercial maintenance projects, ensuring accuracy in time, labour, and materials.
  • Prepare and manage bids, tenders, RFQs, and RFPs with a focus on profitability and client value.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication, professional proposals, and strategic upselling.
  • Negotiate contracts and close opportunities in alignment with company pricing models and margin goals.

Operational & Financial Oversight

  • Track job costs vs. estimates; analyze variances and implement corrective actions to protect margins.
  • Partner with Operations to align estimates with real-time production data.
  • Provide forecasting and input into divisional budgets, helping drive efficiency and long-term profitability.

Crew Management & Field Coordination

  • Oversee field mobilization: staffing, scheduling, material readiness, and site setup.
  • Support foremen and lead hands in daily task planning, production tracking, and quality assurance.
  • Conduct site walks to verify installation quality, schedule adherence, and safety compliance.
  • Mentor, train, and coach field staff to improve efficiency, workmanship, and client satisfaction.

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify operational gaps and implement improved workflows in estimating, scheduling, and client delivery.
  • Champion best practices in maintenance operations, from crew deployment to client reporting.
  • Contribute to division-wide performance reviews, KPI tracking, and continuous training.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with warehouse, operations, and design teams to streamline systems.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in landscape maintenance estimation, sales, and operations management.
  • Proven leadership experience, including mentoring and managing crews.
  • Strong financial acumen with a track record of improving efficiency, margins, and client retention.
  • Proficiency in Aspire or similar operational/ERP systems (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Edmonton zone plant material and commercial/residential maintenance best practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple bids, projects, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; confident in presenting proposals and negotiating with clients.
  • Detail-oriented, solutions-driven, and operationally minded.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and clean driver's abstract.
