The City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Recreation and Parks department as a Parks Stewardship Coordinator.


Reporting to the Supervisor, Parks Planning & Stewardship, this position will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of public facing park related programs which includes, program planning and development, overseeing communication campaigns, and evaluating parks stewardship activities.  

 

The key responsibilities will include:

  • Implement and evaluate park stewardship programs and initiatives.
  • Supports the strategic implementation and delivery of park stewardship programs such as Drones, Alcohol in Parks, Dog Designated Areas and Commemorative Bench and Trees.
  • Represent the department in the planning, delivery, and/or evaluation of other departments’ programs that impact parks and open spaces.
  • Develop program guidelines and operational best practices.
  • Assist with the development and monitoring of an annual budget. Provides monthly reporting and provides insight.       
  • Respond to public inquires and support community engagement.
  • Liaise with internal partners on stewardship-related programs and initiatives.
  • Conduct research in support of strategic planning, project, and/or policy work.
  • Support planning and execution of parks capital projects.

 

The individual we seek is a professional communicator who can effectively engage with stakeholders, contractors, and the public while excelling both independently and as a collaborative team member.

 

TERM

This is a term from September 2025 to April 2027.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two-year post-secondary diploma in community development, environmental studies, recreation, education, or other related field, combined with three (3) years of relevant related experience, or a four-year degree with one (1) year of related experience. Public administration, policy and procedure development, community building, community engagement, and supervision of volunteers is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the municipal government environment is an asset.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders and internal teams

 

A combination of equivalent education and experience will be considered.

 

COMPENSATION

$66,540 - $81,894 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a comprehensive benefit package.

 

HOURS OF WORK

We offer a compressed bi-weekly work schedule of 72 hours, Monday - Friday, 8:00 – 5:00, with a biweekly regular day off (RDO).

 

FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE

This position may be eligible to apply for flexible hours to adjust start and end times from the core hours of 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. by 30 or 60 minutes.

 

HYBRID REMOTE WORK

The City of St. Albert offers options for Hybrid Remote Work. This position may be eligible to apply for Hybrid Remote Work. That means the majority of worktime (51+%) will be completed in the designated workspace, and the remainder may be worked remotely. 

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • The successful applicant will be required to obtain a satisfactory police information check
  • The successful candidate will be required to provide proof of educational and professional credentials.
  • A valid Class 5 Drivers License and a personal vehicle for work use are required
