We are looking for a skilled and motivated Commercial Estimator to join our team and help us continue delivering excellence to our clients.
Position Overview: The Commercial Estimator will prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial landscaping projects. This includes site assessments, interpreting blueprints and specifications, calculating material and labour costs, and preparing bids for various landscaping services. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of landscaping construction, and the ability to build strong relationships with clients and vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducted site visits and assessed project scope and requirements.
- Review and interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Develop and submit competitive, accurate, and timely bids for commercial landscaping projects.
- Work closely with project managers and design teams to ensure estimates are aligned with project goals and specifications.
- Research and stay updated on the latest trends, technologies, and materials in the landscaping industry.
- Assist in negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best pricing and terms.
- Provide ongoing support to project managers during the project lifecycle, ensuring estimates align with actual project costs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, and contractors.
- Prepare and submit reports, documentation, and other necessary materials as required.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (3+ years) as an estimator in the landscaping or construction industry, with a focus on commercial projects.
- Strong knowledge of landscaping construction, materials, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for site visits.
- Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and permits in Edmonton/Alberta is an asset.
- A post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture) is an asset.
