Continuing Education Program 

The AALA adopted a voluntary Continuing Education Program in 2006, the program became mandatory in 2010 during the implementation of Protection of Title.

List of AALA Approved Education Providers (Category 4)

Landscape Architecture Organizations

  • Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA) and Component Provincial Associations (BCSLA, SSLA, MALA, OALA, etc.)
  • American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) - including any content by approved LA CES 
  • Council of Landscape Architectural Boards (CLARB)

Allied Agencies

  • Canadian Parks and Recreation Association and Component Provincial Associations (ARPA, BCRPA, etc)
    • Canadian Playground Safety Institute
  • Landscape Alberta (LANTA),  Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA), and national chapters.

  • Any content provided by a government-accredited University, which is not given formal academic credit, I.e.

  1. What Year am I submitting?
  • Activities from a given year (i.e. activities done in 2017) belong on your 2017 PDU Statement.
  1. Do I have to submit my Self-directed Worksheet?
  • ONLY if you are being audited
  1. What if I am short PDUs last year?
  • You need to maintain 10/year average over each 3-year window
  • so you will want to get extra in the current year to make up the difference.
