Question and Answers

After graduation, what was the first position you had? How did that shape where you are now as a Landscape Architect?

I got to work for Dan Kiley, in the farmhouse he had built for his family on his 200-acre farm in Vermont. It was a dream job where I got to work alongside the master and developed my love for well-designed landscapes with meticulous attention to light, spatial scale, plant and hardscape materials while collaborating with architects and engineers to achieve an overall experience of elegance and beauty.

What skills do you feel are important to have as a Landscape Architect?

Compassion for your client, consultants, architects, engineers and any other team member in the project - that's the only way to find common ground, collaborate and achieve a successful outcome for all.

Tell us about some of the exciting projects you have been a part of.

A past project I'm most proud of is the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Expansion project at Stanford University, where I collaborated with the design architects closely to develop a landscape concept that was integrated into the building architecture as well the interior design of the project - a multi-disciplined achievement that garnered well deserved awards and the distinction of being 2nd children's hospital in North America to achieve LEED Platinum USGBC certification.
