After graduation, what was the first position you had? How did that shape where you are now as a Landscape Architect?

Urban Planner at Cairo Governorate, Egypt This position helped me as landscape architect to understand open space strategy and public spaces usage.

What is something that surprised you at the start of your career? or What is something that surprises you about being a Landscape Architect?

the relation between the urban planning, Urban Design and Landscape Architecture.

What are some of your roles and responsibilities?

I am a senior registered landscape architect and a program design leader with more than twenty-five years of extensive experience in the fields of landscape architecture, urban design, and projects management. I have a significant and progressive experience working within a multi-disciplinary consulting environment as well as Canadian Municipalities from initiation through to construction, ranging from large-scale community development planning to sports and athletic site planning, public and private parks, transportation corridors, transit projects including the development of Dubai international airport and P3 LRT project in Edmonton. With excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead, design, coordinate and communicate with various professional disciplines.
I’m committed to leading and working as part of projects management team and have a strong desire to take part in designs finding creative solutions that are environmentally responsible and technically sound, whether it is conceptual design, detailed design development, tendering, construction management and maintenance.

What skills do you feel are important to have as a Landscape Architect?

Communicate ideas graphically through hand drawings and sketches as well as proficient using computer software, AutoCAD 2d-3d, Civil 3d, Microsoft office Suite, Photoshop CS, Google applications, Sketch Up and InDesign as well as knowledge of GIS Software such as Arc-GIS.

Describe something that you have found challenging as a AALA?. How did you overcome this?

Grading coordination with Architects, Architects must understand the land topo before they start designing their building.

What advice would you give a new Landscape Architect?

Focus in Design of Hardscape Paving, softscape planting, Grading and levels and site furniture. get learned AutoCAD, Photoshop and all other software for landscape architecture.

What are your future goals?

Develop my professional career in different areas.
