While in undergrad, I was trying to decide to pursue architecture or landscape. I did two summer internships at a multidisciplinary firm. I got to experience how big projects came together and realized that I was more interested in site design than building design.

In 2003 I was excepted into the Master of Landscape Archtecture and Regional Planning at the University of Pennsylvania Weitzman School of Design. While in school me and several friends won a design competition for the Grand Central Plaza in Caracas.

I began working at StossLU in Boston and work son many national and international projects. In late 2015 I started my own Firm call Bishop Land Design (BLD). I continue to work national and internationally.

I'm interested in growing my firm and looking at increasing our positive impact on the planet by increasing biodiversity and fighting climate change.

Question and Answers

After graduation, what was the first position you had? How did that shape where you are now as a Landscape Architect?

I worked for StossLu as a designer. The work was hard but the projects were interesting. It certainly helped me to understand how get projects, design projects and build projects.

What are you passionate about as a Landscape Architect?

Climate Action and increasing biodiversity. Design with productive human ecological systems.

Tell us about some of the exciting projects you have been a part of.

Detroit Future City Strategic Framework Plan was a project to revitalize Detroit. The plan in many ways was transformational to the city and continues to be. In many way I'm still working on facets of the plan and have an office in Detroit.
