Question and Answers

After graduation, what was the first position you had? How did that shape where you are now as a Landscape Architect?

After graduation, I was hired by architect and artist Melvin Charney, a prominent figure at the University of Montreal. I worked on the balsa model of his environmental sculpture: Skyscraper, Waterfall, Brooks - a Construction of 1992. Melvin shaped my understanding of urban form and the value of city streets as public space.

What is something that surprised you at the start of your career? or What is something that surprises you about being a Landscape Architect?

I'm fascinated today with how important landscape and the landscape thought process and sensitivity has become for architects. The two disciplines have so much to teach one another.

Tell us about some of the exciting projects you have been a part of.

Our recent Parc des Gorilles in Montreal was an extraordinary experience, through the engagement process with the community and the work we did planning, designing and building the micro forests, the rain garden and the built components of the park. The project was rewarded by the CSLA (Awards of Excellence, 2025) and received the People's Choice Award in the landscape category from the annual Grand Prix de Design.
