To continue to learn more and strive to make our open spaces an enjoyable place to be. |
My first job after graduating was as a junior LAT at Bassett Associates in Calgary. I learned a lot in the short time that I worked there about creating the drawing packages. I enjoyed working with Chris Shukuda learning from his experience. Having worked in landscaping for many years I really enjoyed being involved in the project management side of things and seeing the plans that were on paper get constructed.
I was surprised how quickly I would be involved in almost all aspects of the projects that I was working on. I had a background in landscape construction and was quickly sent on site to monitor the contractors and ensure that they were completing the project correctly. What I enjoy most about my job is seeing areas that were once barren or run down become a lively enjoyable place to be.
I enjoyed working on the open spaces in Strathcona County. The type of work varied from planting additional trees along a boulevard, replacing sidewalks, building outdoor skating rinks, dog parks, baseball field redevelopment, shade structures, or working with local artists to add their art installations to the parks.
To continue to work on projects that improve the areas that we live. I enjoy working on projects that add beauty to our open spaces and make it more enjoyable to be out in them.
