Intermediate Landscape Architect

Posted September 11, 2019 - Closes September 25, 2019
Calgary, Alberta

Make it work for you.

Seriously.

We are a unique (one client described us as ‘eclectic’) office with an extreme focus on our clients and delivering great service. We work hard in our shop, and we are a pretty tight team.  We need someone with the right character and personality to fit with our group. Someone who understands the nuances of a small firm and wants to participate in keeping the shop interesting and engaging.  This is quite important to us.

We currently have an immediate opportunity for a landscape architectural designer (or landscape architect, let’s not limit ourselves here) to join our team.

We offer the opportunity for control of a project from start to finish; responsibility, authority, and shape the results that go along with it.  To the right person, that can be incredibly liberating.  It scares the daylights out of most other people.  Which one are you?

We offer:

  • flexible hours,
  • the opportunity to work with a creative team and shape a project from start to finish,
  • competitive benefits package,
  • opportunity for development and continual learning,
  • a well-stocked snack drawer,
  • Friday discussion sessions with the team,
  • weekly project reviews and coordination,
  • coaching and mentoring.

Skillset Rundown:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a landscape architectural or planning firm.
  • A mature outlook and a willingness to learn.
  • Good solution seeking skills.
  • Good time management skills (this is a big one).
  • GIS experience would be an asset.
  • How’s your hand sketching?  Let’s see some examples.
  • Understanding of the important of project fee budgets and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with our CADD software of choice Vectorworks, is an asset.  But that’s a completely teachable skill.
  • Proficiency in SketchUp and Rhino is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational skills.  Can’t stress that enough.
  • Ability to liaise with other professional disciplines, approving agencies and municipal authorities; building relationships is key.
  • Excellent client service skills.
  • Strong management, delegation, planning skills.
  • Ability to prepare and conduct presentations, public speaking, or speaking to small groups (client presentations) will be required.
  • Graphic presentation skills that encompass the use of Photoshop and InDesign.

So. are you still interested?  Even more excited? If so, please email us with your resume, portfolio, favourite colour and best joke you’ve ever heard.  If we are interested in you, we’ll email you back. To be politically correct, ‘we thank all applicants for their interest, however only those candidates selected for interviews  will be contacted.’ Okay?  Okay.
