Position Description 

We are looking to add an intermediate level Landscape Designer to Kasian’s Calgary office to shape our Ground Level Studio.  Working collaboratively across the Firm, you will use design to make places better – through accessibility, connectivity to the surrounding environment, and a pedestrian-friendly approach.  Your interventions will include a mix of landscape, hardscape, and industrial design.  You bring enthusiasm, a creative mindset, and a thoughtful approach to design.



  • Report and proposal support including layout, development, and production
  • Physical analysis conveying specific opportunities and constraints of a project
  • Preparation of high quality plans, 3D views and renderings, and diagrams conveying key themes and concepts
  • Preparation of design drawings and other graphic material from concept through to contract documents, tender and contract administration services
  • Drawing on knowledge of City requirements and landscape details, create detailed plans for Development Permit and Building Permit 
  • Exploration of innovative design solutions as part of the creative process
  • Ability to work through urban design solutions at a variety of scales
  • Preparation and occasional delivery of presentations to clients, stakeholders and members of the public
  • Collaboration within multidisciplinary teams
  • Leadership skills and an interest in growing the business



  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in Landscape Architecture
  • 3 to 5 years’ professional experience field of Landscape Architecture and Urban Design; experience with masterplanning, streetscape design and/or industrial design preferred
  • Experience with City bylaws and development process
  • Extensive design ability and working technical knowledge, with a thorough understanding landscape architecture’s role in the urban environment
  • Energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for creating holistic urban environments 
  • Strong drawing, sketching, and graphic communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative, and contribute positively to a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience working in various jurisdictions and as part of a national network
