Under the supervision of the Design & Development Manager, this position will budget, plan, design and implement master plans and enhancements of sites and facilities that align with Meewasin’s current strategic plan. This includes the compilation of relevant pre-design information, coordination, consultation, presentations and engagement with decision makers, partner organizations, committees, stakeholders and other professionals. It may also include supervision of Meewasin staff. Additionally, this position will prepare detailed plans and drawings, develop and manage budgets, advise on implementation, retain and manage contractors, suppliers and consultants, and evaluate and report on projects. Below is a list of specific accountabilities; this position will also support Meewasin initiatives with other duties as assigned.

Specific Accountabilities
1. Project Planning & Design
• Ensure projects align with Meewasin’s 100 year plan and current strategic plan
• Plan, develop and update signage including wayfinding, regulatory and interpretive signs, including purchasing and coordinating installation
• Develop detailed AutoCAD base plans including existing features, contours, facilities, plant materials, and utilities
• Develop preliminary design alternatives for proposed developments
• Prepare landscape construction details and specifications for proposed developments
• Plan and implement trail development guidelines and other valley wide planning initiatives
• Prepare a variety of planning and design drawings, maps, graphic materials, presentations and sketches
• Coordinate, plan and undertake project Master Planning and planning studies
• Assist with the development of project communications plans
• Maintain design drawings, graphic work, and map files in an organized and indexed manner
• Maintain, modify and upgrade CAD software
• Coordinate the integration of CAD files into the GIS database
2. Data Collection & Control
• Conduct field investigations as well as visual analysis and record pertinent existing site conditions
• Collect and assemble site information such as maps, aerial photographs, survey plans, legal descriptions, and building standards, as well as legal and/or regulatory requirements
• Coordinate ongoing data collection relating to trails, amenities and other assets
• Update and manage project electronic files
• Monitor and report on the trail user volumes
• Research relevant products and methods of construction
• Manage site amenity inventory, including purchasing and replacement
3. Administration & Coordination
• Site analysis, planning, cost estimating, and quantity take offs
• Submit capital projects for approvals including meetings, reports, presentations, renderings
• Tendering, project management and contract administration of construction projects
• Coordination and management of project consultants, suppliers and contractors
• Supervision of Meewasin staff may be required
• Assist with donor programs for location and new placement of plaques and plant materials
• Develop and manage budgets, requests and assist with annual and five year budget development
• Gather and record product, material and supplier information
• Report writing, developing documents, including Terms of Reference, as well as planning documents and meeting notes
• Plan, coordinate, and lead consultation on proposed projects and present information to stakeholders and decision makers
• Submit projects for regulatory approvals, grant applications and proposals for fee for service
• Work with donations and fundraising staff to meet the needs of ongoing donor programs and fundraising initiatives
• Work in conjunction with Meewasin resource management, construction and horticultural staff on in-house projects and initiatives, including plant and nursery inventories
• Assist with volunteer and stewardship initiatives, including restoration and development projects
• Establish and manage project committees and meetings
• Engage internally and externally on boards, committees and working groups
• Support the fostering of relationships and partnerships to support and enhance projects and Meewasin’s strategic priorities
• Posting public hearing notices as a Meewasin representative for projects undergoing Development Review
