Opportunity:

An opportunity exists for a highly motivated Junior or Intermediate Landscape Architect in the Saskatoon office location. The successful candidate will work within a fast paced, multi-disciplinary team for completion of planning, design and construction services for a wide variety of landscape architectural projects.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include master planning, landscape concept and detail design development, construction detailing, schematic illustrations and presentation of design work to the public, project stakeholder groups and our clients. Reporting to a Senior Landscape Architect, you will also provide cost estimating, detail design services, contract document preparation, tender and contract administration services including inspection and construction management for total project involvement.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Landscape Architecture (BLA or MLA) or a similar certification;
  • 2-3 years experience in a consulting environment is preferred, however, recent graduates are encouraged to apply;
  • Superior grading design, plant identification and basic arboriculture skills are required, with an understanding of the landscape architect’s role in a consulting environment;
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point experience is important with AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop experience considered an asset. Proficient hand drafting and graphic design skills along with above average presentation and communication skills are highly desirable;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and possess a strong desire to take part in finding creative solutions that are environmentally responsible and technically sound;

About You

Our preferred candidate is a graduate from a landscape architecture technology program, ideally with three plus years of experience. You have a solid understanding of the design process and good technical skills in the areas of design illustration, landscape design, construction detailing, design documentation and construction inspection. In addition, you will possess the following specific skills, strengths and interests:

• Good computer skills and a proficiency with AutoCAD and 3-D design;
• Strong graphic design capabilities including the ability to freehand sketch;

A Landscape Technologist who is skilled in and excited by assuming the following responsibilities:

  • Undertake the preparation of landscape drawings and other documents at all stages of project development
  • Visit project sites, conduct landscape surveys and site evaluations to coordinate design solutions.
  • Coordinate landscape design development with other members and disciplines of the consulting team.
  • Work with minimal supervision and ensure that work is done accurately, efficiently and complies with policies, procedures and best working practices.
  • Ensure all documentation is produced in accordance with approved corporate standards and polices.
  • Monitor projects for compliance to building codes and other regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Must currently be eligible for permanent employment in Canada and available for work in Calgary. No other candidates will be considered
  • Hold a Landscape Architecture Technologist (LAT) diploma or other equivalent technical training.
  • Two years or more experience in a landscape architecture consulting environment with an emphasis technical document production.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Microsoft Office, and other relevant design and presentation software.

The ideal candidate will be an organized individual who is able to work independently in a dynamic team environment on a variety of projects and tasks that include: site analysis and data collection, conceptual design, design development and detailed design, preparation of construction documents, project management, cost estimating, client contact and construction administration.

Responsibilities and Qualifications:

The ideal applicant will possess the following:

  • Diploma in Landscape Architectural Technology from an accredited post secondary institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years directly related experience, preferably in a consulting environment.
  • Expert level skills in AutoCAD.
  • Experience in Sketch-Up and Photoshop is considered an asset.
