The Profession

Landscape Architecture is the profession concerned with analysis, creative rational planning, design, planning management and rehabilitation of the land to facilitate enlightened use and conservation by humankind.

The primary educational focus of Landscape Architecture is the integration of design from the Arts and Humanities, human use and behavior from the Social Sciences, and ecology from the Natural Sciences. As practicing professionals, Landscape Architects have completed recognized programs of university training, and a minimum three years supervised practical experience. A Landscape Architect’s education is directed toward the evaluation of land resources as they relate to human needs and desires.

A Landscape Architect, by virtue of his/her education and experience, is able to design and coordinate the construction of functional, aesthetic, environmentally sensitive, and cost effective site development projects.
