Honourary Members

Are distinguished individuals who have been selected by the Board in recognition of outstanding community activity related to the principle or practice of Landscape Architecture.

Landscape Architect Members

Any individual who holds a degree in Landscape Architecture from a recognized program and has three (3) years work experience in the field of Landscape Architecture. The member must be endorsed by two landscape architects of whom one has been an AALA member for a minimum of 5 years. A Landscape Architect Member may also be a person who is in good standing in another province or foreign country that has a registration standard equivalent to that of the AALA. A Landscape Architect Member may also be a person that has achieved the equivalency of a degree in Landscape Architecture through the completion of prescribed program of mentorship and work experience.

Associate Members

Any individual who holds a recognized degree in Landscape Architecture and is currently acquiring the three (3) years of required work experience. An Associate member may also be a person that holds a related degree but is working directly in the field of Landscape Architecture.

Landscape Architectural Technologist Members

Any individual who holds a diploma from a recognized program in Landscape Architectural Technology. A Landscape Architectural Technology member may also be a person who holds a diploma in a related discipline and has worked in the field of Landscape Architectural Technology for a minimum of 2 years under the direct supervision of a landscape architect.

Student Affiliate Members

Any individual currently registered in a recognized program of Landscape Architecture or Landscape Architectural Technology or are in the first two years of work experience as a Landscape Architectural Technologist with a diploma from a non-recognized program or from a related discipline.

Affiliate Members

Any individual who works in a related or allied profession and has an interest in the profession of Landscape Architecture.

Inactive Members

An “Inactive Member” is one who is otherwise qualified to be a Member, but is not currently practicing in the field of Landscape Architecture.
